Following the Supreme Court mandating admission to medical and dental colleges through NEET scores, Mr Tawde had said that the state would not abandon state board students and would do everything in its power to help the students prepare for the phase II of NEET that is to be held on July 24.". As part of the help, he had said that the state would air televised lectures on the CBSE syllabus everyday for an hour and the same would be started from May 19. Officials said that the same was delayed due to some technical problems and airing of the lectures would start soon.

When asked about the same, Mr Gangadhar Mhamane, chairman of the Maharashtra State Board of secondary and Higher Secondary Education that was entrusted with the task of recording the lectures said, "Work on making the lectures is on full swing but due to some technical problems they have not been aired as per the dates announced by Mr Tawde. "We are happy that the government is worried about the future of our children but what is the point of giving assurances if they cannot live up to them," said Nikhil Shah, a parent and resident of Versova referring to the failure of the medical education ministry to air the lectures.State board students preparing for the CBSE-based National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exams were left disheartened after the televised lectures promised by medical education minister Vinod Tawde failed to be aired on Thursday.
